Winterfest at Ferris Triangle Park
Ferris Triangle Park sits along Old Bergen Road in Greenville, right near the community center. The city renovated the park in 2021 with an accessible playground, a splash pad, seating and new lighting, and the center uses the space for events and programming. The Friends of Ferris Triangle Park, the neighborhood group that cares for the park, plans several community events there each year, and its monthly meeting on the first Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. on Zoom is open to everyone.
For a sense of timing, the center’s earlier listing put last year’s tree lighting on Wednesday, December 17 at 6:00 p.m. Because this year’s Winterfest date is not posted yet, a quick call to the center is the best way to plan.
The 4th Annual Gift Giveaway
The center is inviting children to its fourth annual giveaway on December 12, billed as fun for all children. Last year’s giveaway was invitation only after pre-registration, so if you have a child in your life, ask the center how sign-up works this year. Gift programs like this depend on neighbors, and the center accepts new or gently used clothing, coats and toys, along with diapers, formula, baby food, wipes and non-perishable food. Find the full list on its donate and volunteer page.
Free Expungement Clinic on December 15
A few days after the giveaway, the center and St. Paul the Apostle host a free expungement clinic on December 15 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Volunteers will help with paperwork to expunge minor offenses, including non-violent, cannabis and disorderly persons offenses. Walk-ins are welcome and refreshments are available. Bring information and documents about your case, and ask if you are unsure whether your record is eligible. The clinic runs at two sites: Triangle Park Community Center, 247 Old Bergen Road, and St. Paul the Apostle, 20 Greenville Avenue.
