The Hoboken Historical Museum is throwing itself a birthday party, and the whole community is invited. On Saturday, November 14, 2026, the museum celebrates 40 years since its incorporation in 1986 and 25 years in its home in the former Bethlehem Steel Shipyard on Hudson Street in Hoboken, Hudson County, NJ.

The 40th Anniversary Celebration runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and mixes food, wine, jazz and a silent auction, all in support of the museum.

40th Anniversary Celebration Details

What to Expect

According to the museum, the evening features food from Hoboken restaurants, a wine tasting curated by Sparrow’s Wine and Liquor that is included with your ticket, live jazz from a local band and a silent auction. The party spreads out both indoors and outdoors along the walkway, so dress for a November evening by the river.

Proceeds benefit the museum, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, which helps keep its exhibits, programs and collection going for the next 40 years. Questions about the event can go to info@hobokenmuseum.org or 201.656.2240.

Why the Museum Matters

For four decades the museum has collected and shared the story of Hoboken, from its shipyards and factories to its neighborhoods and famous residents. Its location inside the old Bethlehem Steel Shipyard building is part of that story, and the 25th anniversary of the move is one more reason to celebrate this year.
